“A Chance to Dance” from Nigel Lythgoe & BalletBoyz’ Micheal Nunn & William Trevitt on Ovation

August 21, 2012

Nigel Lythgoe with Micheal Nunn and William Trevitt of the Ballet Boyz has created a new reality dance show, “A Chance to Dance. The seven-parts series, which premiered on Ovation last week, follows Mr. Nunn and Mr. Trevitt as they hold auditions for dancers across the U.S. Their goal is the ambitious task of creating a company plus choreographing a new work to be performed at this past June’s NYC gala for the Dizzy Feet Foundation. All this is to be done in only 28 days.

Mr. Lythgoe, who was instrumental in launching Fox hits “American Idol”  and “So You Think You Can Dance,” will co-produce the series with his son Simon Lythgoe, a TV game-show host in Australia.

Other dance-focused Ovation reality shows includeDance School: Juilliard,” which follows dancers through their three years at the prestigious school.
