Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in the Rain Room at the Baribican

November 26, 2012

This performance is a fusion of art and movement, building on a series of past collaborations between the award-winning choreographer and the acclaimed studio Random International, including Random International’s Future Self and Wayne McGregor Random Dance’s FAR.

Rain Room is the latest installation by digital-based contemporary art studio rAndom International. It is a 100 square meter field of falling water for visitors to walk through and experience how it might feel to control the rain. On entering The Curve the visitor hears the sound of water and feels moisture in the air before discovering the thousands of falling droplets that respond to their presence and movement. The music is an original score by Max Richter.

The Rain Room is open until 3 March 2013 and Wayne McGregor | Random Dance will be performing again on Sun 2 December, Sun 18 January 2013 and Sun 24 February 2013 (11am – 5pm). Entry is free to both the Rain Room and the performances. You can find out more about the Rain Room exhibition on the Barbican Centre website.
