Pilobolus at the Joyce Theater: July 9-August 4….

June 27, 2013

Pilobolus annual month-long engagement at The Joyce Theater in Chelsea, NYC is upon us.  Featuring two NY premieres and a one-show-only family matinee, this summer season offers something for everyone.

For our first premiere, esc, we team with masters of trickery, Penn & Teller, to create the ultimate piece of gripping, do-not-try-this-at-home choreography. Fantasy, athleticism, strength, confinement, fetters and escape are all at play in this tantalizing premiere.

Licks, the second premiere – and our third collaboration with Trish Sie – is a complete departure from the great work we did together on All Is Not Lost and SkyscrapersLicks is a high-octane romp, full of raw energy and berserk horseplay. Featuring twelve ropes and six dancers, the piece is at various times wild, rowdy, dangerous, sexy, and absurd. Tijuana’s Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich & Fussible has partnered to create the unique soundtrack, which fuses infectious modern rhythms and traditional Northern Mexican border music.

Season: July 9 – August 4
Rules @ Play (our family matinee): Wednesday, July 24 @ 1PM
